PLOT
James, genannt "Animal", ist der Schrecken der Nachbarschaft im Schwarzenghetto. Als er sich eines Tages erwischen lässt, wandert er in den Knast. Dort hätte ihn der interne Strippenzieher Kassada gern in seiner Gang, während Altknacki Berwell das Potential des Gewaltmenschen ins Gute kehren will und dazu die Lektüre von Malcolm X ins Feld führt. Geläutert kehrt Animal aus dem Knast zurück, nur um festzustellen, dass sein in der Zwischenzeit zum Mann gereifter Sohn bereits in seine Fußspuren tritt.
Ving Rhames, Gangsterboss in "Pulp Fiction" und nicht zuletzt seiner beeindruckenden Physis wegen gruseliger Mittelpunkt diverser Black-Cinema-Thriller, verwirklicht ein persönliches Anliegen als Produzent und Titelheld dieses düsteren Homeboy-Thrillers mit Message. Der spielt etwa zur Hälfte hinter schwedischen Gardinen, wo Mafiafilmveteran Chazz Palminteri und Blaxploitation-Legende Jim Brown um des Helden Seele ringen. Bekannte Story unterhaltsam ein weiteres mal aufbereitet, Thrillerfans kommen auf ihre Kosten.
